The Rhine-Main region is among the most important logistics locations in Germany. On the one hand the region serves as an international gateway due to Frankfurt major airport, and on the other hand the Greater Frankfurt area has a high demand of large-scale logistics services. Commerce is slightly overrepresented in the area, being responsible for the local supply and centralized distribution. Along freeway A3 most of the logistics agglomerations can be found, but also from Frankfurt airport all the way to Groß-Gerau many logistics companies are located.

The scarcity of suitable sites in the Rhine-Main region is increasing. There are no more sites suited for logistics business available at all in the city of Frankfurt. The highest location potential lies in the Rhineland-Palatinate part of the Rhine-Main metropolitan area.
